What a weekend to be in Burnside.
Our hometown celebration of America’s 250th birthday brought out the community in full force, and even a little weather couldn’t slow down the fun. From live music and local vendors to food trucks, a beer garden, and family activities at Cole Park, Burnside’s America 250 Celebration delivered exactly what we hoped: a true small-town gathering with big-time energy.
A Weekend Worth Celebrating
Presented by Century 21, Burnside’s America 250 Celebration kicked off Saturday at Cole Park with a full day of festivities. The lineup kept the energy high from afternoon into evening, with live music from Journey Men, Logan Purcell, and the Somerset Big Band filling the park with sound while folks wandered between food trucks, local vendors, and the beer garden.
It was the kind of afternoon Burnside does best with neighbors catching up, kids running around the inflatables, and the smell of festival food drifting across the park. The patriotic ceremony added a meaningful pause to the day, with remarks from Mayor Lawson and Aimee Mills, a military tribute, “America the Beautiful” performed by Amanda Woody, the Pledge of Allegiance, and the National Anthem honoring the occasion in true Burnside fashion.
When Mother Nature Had Other Plans
As anyone in Lake Cumberland country knows, summer weather doesn’t always cooperate and Saturday night’s fireworks show ended up getting pushed back a day due to incoming weather. But if there’s one thing this community is good at, it’s rolling with it.
Sunday night, the skies cleared up just in time, and Burnside got its reward: an absolutely epic fireworks show lighting up the night over Lake Cumberland. Families lined the shoreline, lawn chairs came back out, and the wait turned out to be well worth it.
A Big Thank You
None of this happens without the people and partners who make it possible. A huge thank you to our presenting sponsor, Century 21, along with the vendors, food trucks, musicians, and city leadership who helped pull off a celebration our community will be talking about for a while.
This event was proudly part of Lake Cumberland 250: The Biggest Small-Town Fourth of July Celebration in America, a region-wide celebration running June 25–July 4, 2026 across Somerset, Burnside, and Pulaski County.
More to Come
If this weekend was any indication, the rest of the Lake Cumberland 250 celebration — leading right up to Independence Day — is shaping up to be one for the books. Keep an eye on our Facebook page and the blog for more updates as the festivities continue across the region.
Didn’t make it out this weekend? No worries — there’s still plenty of celebrating ahead through July 4. Follow along for what’s next!
