Located on the only island in the Kentucky State Park system, General Burnside Island Golf Course offers a truly unique golfing experience surrounded by the peaceful waters of Lake Cumberland. This 18-hole public course in Somerset, KY, was designed by renowned golf course architect Brian Ault and stretches across 6,394 yards of Zoysia fairways and bent grass tees and greens—creating a smooth, scenic game for golfers of all skill levels.

The course is known for its natural beauty, with notable features like the striking rock formations near Hole 6. It’s earned local and statewide acclaim, including the “Best Places to Play Golf” award by the Commonwealth Journal Readers Choice Awards and recognition in Kentucky Living magazine’s Reader’s Choice Awards.

General Burnside Island is also part of Kentucky State Parks’ Golf Trail. With the Trail Card, avid players can enjoy unlimited rounds at participating courses across the state, including this one. Discount cards offering reduced rates and cart fees are also available—just ask at the pro shop.
